Bouquiniste: a dealer in secondhand books
I first heard this term associated with the book sellers along the embankment of the river Seine. The OED is dismissive, “used books of little value”, but it’s a charming term and gives some glamour to the work of sorting and organizing the incoming stream of books.
By all accounts, the Public Library Association meeting last week in Indianapolis was a great time. It takes a few days to recover from having so much fun, but I want to say what a pleasure it was to meet and talk with librarians (and one Friend) from around the country and even around the world (Singapore).
